An article regarding how the holidays boosted the overall flow of mail at the Sumas Post Office.  An interesting statement considering how busy the post office is today.

  1. When I was in grade school, my postmaster dad Owen Lade would have to get out the mail Christmas morning at the Post Office before we could open our Christmas gifts.

  2. What a surprise to find a picture of my grandmother, Mrs Mary Elizabeth Burger, featured in the Bank of Sumas picture. She was a true historian of Sumas. She always told me stories and I wish I could ask her more questions now that I'm grown, but sadly she passed away in 2010. I know she worked in the Sumas doctor's office, Sumas bank, Sumas Library for many, many years as well as the local mail lady for many, many years delivery mail. She knew and loved many people in the Sumas area. So happy to find her beautiful smiling face here!!

    1. I had the opportunity to work with your Liz Burger at the library. She was a very interesting lady and had lots to share about our community.

  3. Thank you Deborah. Yes, Grandma definitely was an interesting and amazing woman. She knew much about our community and I'm so thankful that I got the honor of hearing several of her stories and that she passed her love of history onto me.
